Would you like to spread joy to Johnston County Seniors this holiday season? Join us by participating in the Golden Wishes Program!

We will be distributing Golden Wishes cards to seniors receiving home-delivered meals and in-home aide services from Community and Senior Services of Johnston County. Cards are filled out with wish list items that the seniors would like to receive for Christmas. By participating in our Golden Wishes Program, you are helping to spread joy to seniors in need across Johnston County.

There are several ways to get involved in the Golden Wishes Program:

1.    Direct Adoption:
If you choose to be a direct adopter, you will receive a senior's wish list and can use it as a guide for purchasing gift(s) to deliver directly to their home at a prearranged time. This type of adoption is preferred because direct human contact is a joyful experience for both parties. All gifts should be delivered to the client by Sunday, December 13th.
2.    Sponsored Adoption:
If you wish to participate in the program but are unable to deliver the gifts personally, you can participate as a sponsor. You can contribute to the program financially or can contribute gifts. Financial contributions should be received by Monday, November 16th, to allow time for the purchasing of gifts. Gift(s) should be collected, wrapped, and delivered to the Community and Senior Services office at 1363 W. Market St. in Smithfield by Tuesday, December 1st. These gifts will then be delivered directly to the client by our staff and volunteers.
3.    Volunteer:
By volunteering, you will be delivering gifts already purchased by sponsors to Johnston County seniors.

If you wish to participate, please contact us by Monday, November 2nd so we can match you with a local senior.

Wish lists: All adopters will receive the name of a senior citizen in need of holiday cheer, along with their wish list, by Tuesday, November 10th. Adopters are under no obligation to obtain the items on the wish list. The wish list is merely a shopping guide. Different or additional items can be given if desired.
Our wish is to bring joy to homebound seniors who may otherwise be lonely during the holiday season. We are grateful for your participation.

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we strongly encourage social distancing and the wearing of masks during the delivery process.

Thank you,
